Statistics taken from February of this year show that more than 90% of cattle movements were reported online electronically, showing an increase in the need for the Internet in cattle organisation. This is reported to be the highest ever figure, and is up by more than 5% on last year’s figure.
Cattle organisation is integral to British faming and meat consumption, as grass fed meat is a food type in very high demand. Tasks involving cattle and meat products have to be carefully organised, and increasingly more of this is being done electronically. Not only are cattle movements being recorded online, but there are several places for buying meat on the web too.
According to the Rural Payments Agency, who recorded the data, high figures have been recorded for transactions made online recently, showing that the cattle industry is still moving forward in cyberspace. The company reported that more farmers are seeing the benefits of reporting transactions online as it is faster and more convenient.
Since online shopping has become such a common thing in most households, there are few businesses today that do not have some kind of online presence. This is true for the grass fed beef industry, and is now also true for farmers. The Rural Payments Agency has noted that more farmers are doing business online and encourages others to do the same.
Online storage and transaction systems have many benefits, including the aforementioned speed of the organisation, but also the accessibility. People all over the world can access the Internet, so setting up a shop online provides a lot more scope than a physical store.
