Quality meat is often hard to find in a basic supermarket. This is why more consumers are actively seeking out the best kinds from butcher shops or online butchers. According to new research, more consumers are seeking out grass fed beef as opposed to the alternatives and are willing to pay more for the quality.
Grass fed beef is sourced using cattle which have been consuming grass over the course of their lifespan rather than being fed on corn. Due to the health benefits of grass fed meat becoming more widely known, the demand for such quality meats has increased by around 20 per cent in the space of a year.
More stores, both in the UK and the US, are aiming to provide grass fed meat, but it is still not as readily available as it could be. There is such demand in America that some have been going to US ranchers directly to purchase the quality meat they seek.
The benefits of grass fed beef are highlighted in many articles and studies today, as the beef is said to be leaner; helping our bodies fight cancer and fat. One ranch in the US says that because people are becoming more health conscious, this type of beef is selling out up to two months in advance.
Although grass fed beef can be more expensive due to the extended time it takes cattle to be reared on land, the rising costs of the alternatives have shortened the price gap considerably.
