Farm shows take place all over the UK throughout the year, showcasing everything from award winning sausages to grass fed beef. This year’s Anglesey agricultural show received a very welcome guest in the form of Prince William, who was visiting to say farewell to the island that has been his home for the last few years.
During one of the Prince’s first public engagements since the birth of his son on July 22, he made a speech to the elation of the show’s attendees. He then promised to return again with Kate, even though he is due to leave the Anglesey base next month, after being based there since 2009.
As well as entertaining the crowd with his speech, which was spoken in Welsh, Prince William took part in the agricultural show. He was given his own glove by the young daughter of a falcon master before learning to handle the birds of prey as part of a special display. He then went on to visit the cattle and the horses in the main part of the show, where he met and chatted with lots of people.
Agricultural shows are known for their family-friendly atmospheres, and this event’s royal visitor made sure he added to that by speaking as many people as possible. He was seen to ask some of the farmers about their cattle and even received some baby advice from one of the handlers.
The agricultural show is one of Anglesey’s most popular regular events, with many locals attending to get some inspiration before ordering BBQ meats from online butchers.
