The changing of seasons is important in most countries, as it offers the chance to grow new produce and sell specific items of food to the public. Nowhere is it more exciting than for those at the Federal Way Farmers’ Market summer kick off 2013 in Washington, USA where hundreds of people got together to welcome the summer season.
At its summer launch, there were over 50 different vendors, with a mixture of fresh produce and flowers available from local farmers. For those in attendance, there was the interesting choice of corn of the cob, kettle corn, Mexican food, Russian crepes, and tasty gourmet sausages.
As well as the fresh food and produce available, there was entertainment from a high school band during the opening ceremonies and a performance from an Elvis-style entertainer.
The Federal Way Farmers’ Market is said to be hosting many charity events during the summer, including fundraisers, 5k walks and bike rides. Local vendors who are interested in participating in future farmers’ markets are encouraged to get in contact.
Farmers’ markets are traditionally celebrations, and plenty of food is available for the attendees. It is important for people to get an idea of the fresh produce available, and enjoy the season while it lasts.
Every season is great for growing and rearing different produce, and farmers’ markets are excellent ways to see each season begin. From grass fed beef to gourmet sausages, there will always be something for the meat lovers to enjoy.
