U.S. county schools get grass fed beef ‘Taco Tuesday’

A new initiative has been set up in the U.S.’s Humboldt County that aims to get students in local schools eating more food of local origin. As part of this effort, many schools throughout the county were recently served organic grass fed beef for lunch.

Tuesday, March 19, saw Humboldt County’s school districts take part in the grass fed beef day, which was appropriately named ‘Taco Tuesday’. The event was the first of its kind and provided students with high quality donated local grass fed beef that was free of any genetically modified substances or medicines.

According to the Redwood Times, the local beef donators are keen to help out with providing high quality food for kids. This generosity was then extended throughout the rest of Humboldt County for more students to enjoy a Taco Tuesday.

Grass fed beef has been said to contain more nutrients than other types of beef, and it is overall a healthier choice. Organic grass fed beef like the kind supplied by this local county goes one step further to be even more natural, eliminating the unnatural substances and ultimately the risk that they pose to humans if ingested.

The community of Humboldt County is said to be dedicated to providing healthy, high quality grass fed beef more regularly to the local residents and schools. Further to Taco Tuesday, it is now planned that grass fed beef hot dogs will be provided to schools in the county by the end of this year.
